Association of Mechanical Contractors
and Electrical Projects of Cyprus
The Association of Mechanical and Electrical Contractors of Cyprus (SEMIEK) is the consolidation of the Association of Mechanical and Electrical Contractors of Cyprus (SEMIEK) and the Association of Electrical Installations Contractors of Cyprus, which were active in Cyprus since 1973 and 1959 respectively.
The aim of the consolidation is to create a strong new Association which will represent all companies active in the field of mechanical and electrical installations in Cyprus.
What is S.E.M.I.E.K.?
The main aims of SEMIEK are:

The regulation of relations and disputes between members, employers and employees.

The organization of the members of the Association to coordinate their actions and take collective measures to promote and safeguard their professional and financial interests.

The defense and promotion of the interests of the members of the Association against the Government, the Parastatals or other Organizations as well as the local authorities.

The development, promotion and improvement of the professional level of the members, the tightening of relations and the development of the spirit of solidarity and close cooperation between them to eliminate unfair competition and friction between the members, the defense of common interests and mutual assistance, the mutual support and the representation of the Association as a single organization.

The collection and provision of information to members.

The provision to the members of advisory, legal or other services which the Board of Directors will consider useful for promoting the interests of the profession.

Cooperation or participation financially or not, directly or indirectly, in the work or purposes of any legal Association or Federation of Employers whose purpose is to promote the interests of employers.

The promotion of the professional interests of the members and the improvement of the conditions of their profession.

The protection of the legal interests of the members in any other way.

The creation of a Fund for the operation of the Association and the achievement of its goals.
Key Objectives
Board of directors
The Association is managed by an 11-member Board of Directors which is elected every two years by the General Assembly of its members.
Each Member of SEMIEK can submit any issue or proposal to the Board of Directors and to the General Assembly and request any information or explanation on any matter concerning the Association or its members. Member Businesses can display the fact that they are members of the Association and even use the Association logo on their letterhead.
For the purposes of better service and carrying out its work, the Association is affiliated to the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (SEMIEK). The SEMIEK provides SEMIEK with its own executive secretary (SEMIEK officer) with academic qualifications who serves the Association and its members.

SEMIEK is an independent legal entity (registered in accordance with the Law on Trade Unions) and decides itself on all matters that concern it under the guidance and advisory role of SEMIEK. In this way the members of the Association can decide for themselves about the activities of the Association.
